According to travelnews, africa, from 28 March 2027, the airline will increase its weekly services between London Heathrow Airport and Cape Town International Airport from seven to 10 flights. The additional services form part of British Airways’ northern summer 2027 schedule and are expected to provide greater flexibility for both leisure and business travellers.
More flights planned for the 2026/27 summer season
The latest announcement follows another planned increase in capacity on the London to Cape Town route.
From December 2026, British Airways intends to operate three flights daily between London Heathrow and Cape Town for the 2026/27 southern summer season. This will provide additional capacity during one of the busiest periods for international travel to South Africa, when visitors from the UK arrive for the summer holidays and festive season.
Better connections for international travellers
The additional flights are also expected to offer more convenient connecting opportunities through London Heathrow. Passengers travelling beyond the UK will have more departure options when arranging onward journeys to destinations across Europe, North America and other international markets. This could make it easier to coordinate connecting flights and reduce the need to plan trips around limited departure schedules.
For South Africa’s tourism industry, increased flight capacity is another positive development. More direct connections between major international markets and Cape Town can help support inbound tourism, making it easier for international visitors to explore the city and other destinations across the Western Cape.
